Godspell (2020)
Godspell was the first production put on by one of Shenandoah Conservatory's student run production companies, Hornet's Nest. The production was directed by Aidan Joyce (MT BFA 2023) and utilized imagery of a 90's punk rock concert. All of the costumes were thrifted from a local vintage store. In partnership with this small business the cast was able to wear these clothing items at no cost, and at the show, the items used were up for sale in the lobby.
A minimal set was used. A platform that hosted the live band was set upstage and was used occasionally for story telling. The show was put up in Shenandoah Conservatory's Glaize black box theatre. With an audience that was positioned on three sides of the stage, the space was used to its full potential to invited the audience into the lessons, fun, and message that Godspell provides.
